Our Emmy's Adventure!

( I am a little behind on writing the story behind our wonderful Hollywood adventure- but better late than never! )

So, it all started in August when Sweet Petunia received an invitation to attend the gifting suites for the Emmy's.  It was such and incredible opportunity -- and sounded like a lot of fun -- so Kelli and I decided to do it! We had soooo much to plan - we had to figure out what special pieces of Sweet Petunia we wanted to take, how to display it, and then figure out how to get it all to LA. :) One of the biggest tasks was to produce our Fall/Holiday catalog right away, so the celebrities we met could get a good visual idea of the entire Sweet Petunia brand. As usual, the wonderful ladies at Fresh Art Photography were so amazing to work with.  They captured our looks for fall, Halloween and Christmas perfectly and provided us with some truly special photos for the catalog.  Then Kelli used the images to create our fabulous Fall/ Holiday 2011 catalog/lookbook! (They arrived at our hotel the same day we arrived...shew!)

Next, we practiced packing. We had 120 canvas zebra swag bags screen printed with our logo, 4 mannequins, one amazing tablecloth, 100 t-shirts, 200 headbands, 200 rings AND our amazing Emmy dress into 3 large rolling suitcases!  That left one suitcase for our clothing and toiletries. Our bags were busting at the seams but we did it!

My friend Denise (who just happens to be a wonderful photographer and a representative from Basket Of Hope, a charity we partner with), my 10 year old daughter Ainsley, Kelli (my biz partner), and myself all flew out to LA the morning before the big event.

Our flights were all on time, our bags didn't get lost, and best of all, our hotel was AMAZING! We stayed at the beautiful L'Ermitage hotel in Beverly Hills, where the gifting suites were being held. The pool was incredible and the weather was pure perfection.

We were able to do a bit of sightseeing the day that we arrived.  Shopped at The Groves and took a bus tour around Beverly Hills.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day! Look at that blue sky!

The next morning was a scramble to set up our area in the gifting suite and get ready for the celebrities to visit.  It was like setting up a stage -- everyone clammoring to set the scene, and then one minute before the event started, pure Hollywood magic happened and the doors opened, the cameras started flashing, and Sweet Petunia Clothing turned on our midwest, Made-in-the-USA charm.

Our event started at 10am and ended at 8pm. It was a non-stop day... We met over 120 celebrities. The entire day was such a wonderful and surreal experience... We were the only childrens line invited to the event, and it was amazing to see the reaction from the celebrities. Many of them were excited to show us pictures of their children on their phones... we heard lots of stories from proud parents... and it was incredible to meet some small-sized small-screen actors who were all smiles about Sweet Petunia.

The last day of our three-day adventure started off with having breakfast at adorable authentic French bistro named Little Next Door Brasserie. They had the most divine chocolate croissants!   We did a little bit of shopping and then it was time to head back to St. Louis...

The whole trip was such a whirlwind... a fun, beautiful, thrilling whirlwind. We had so much fun introducing L.A. and the Emmy's to Sweet Petunia Clothing!
